 David Napier Oct. 24th, 2020 Prof. JoAnne Harris      Topic: Social Media      Research question: Should we change the way we as a society manage social media?      Claim: We need to change the irresponsible way we manage social media.      Why I am interested:      I express an interest in this topic because it's an issue that effects all of us. Social media has an impact on our culture, businesses, education, government, and ultimately society as a whole. It's a communication tool used in all aspects of our life. More importantly, it will continue to effect our society as we continue to grow. On a more personal note this topic briefly covers mental health, which is a persistent on going battle in my life. The Effects of Music

David Napier 10/5/2020 Joanne Harris           The effects music can have on a person are numerous. An example I've heard personally is its therapeutic effects on those with Alzheimers. The old woman had lost nearly all of her memory, she couldn't even recognize her own daughter, but she could remember all the church songs from when she was little. This story is backed up by science. That's not all. Music can also reduce stress, improve healing, and can be an excellent method of communication and self expression. A high cortex volume in a person's brain means they have a lot of potential to change. They say the cortex volume of the brain is highest in musicians. Playing For Change is the embodiment of this fact.         In the video, “Stand By Me|Playing For Change|Song Around the World” by Playing For Change , I immediately took notice of the fact that all of the performers in the video are street performers.   I started to think of how that is a significant detail.
